Hugh R. Stolte, beloved father, brother, and friend died of a heart attack on his birthday, Feb. 6th, while doing what he loved—skiing with a close friend. He was 61 years old. A native of Ellicott City and a graduate of Mt. Hebron High School, Hugh was a champion wrestler and an accomplished contractor with over 25 years of construction experience with his company, MSA LLC. He is especially missed by his two daughters, Carolyn Stolte-Danaher and Anna Stolte, his long-term girlfriend Pamela O’Brien, his four siblings Marydele, Foster, John, and Todd Stolte, and his goofy “dingo dog,” Hula.
Hugh was known as an avid adventurer and lover of all things outdoors. He enjoyed laid-back evenings by the pool with his friends and family, riding his motorcycle down back roads, and cheering for the Ravens. When he wasn’t maintaining his beautiful property in Sykesville, Hugh was hitting the slopes, riding his bicycle, golfing, skydiving, or lending a hand to improve someone else’s day. Hugh worked hard and played harder, always enjoying life to the fullest.
In lieu of flowers, Hugh’s family requests donations be made to Habitat for Humanity. Viewing will be held at Slack Funeral Home on Sunday, 2/11 from 3-6pm. Please send pictures to email@example.com. A Memorial service with a reception following will be held Saturday February 17th at the Howard County Conservancy, 10520 Old Frederick Rd., Woodstock, MD 21163, starting at 3 pm. In the event of inclement weather; please check the conservancies webpage for parking instructions.
Hugh wanted to go out in style; come prepared to laugh and celebrate his life!
