She attended a one-room school house in Daisy and was a graduate of Lisbon High School in 1942. She was one of 7 children and grew up on the Hill Family farm; she loved the outdoors and was very active in the 4-H program. It was through 4-H that she met her husband the late Harry Lee Eyre Jr. Harry and Kitty were married at the Hill Family farm in 1945. This union was blessed with two sons, Ronald Lee and Jesse Thomas.

Mary K. and her husband founded Eyre Bus Service in 1947 with the purchase of a used school bus. She went on to become a very accomplished entrepreneur. Over her 42 year professional career, she expanded the bus company to include motorcoach and tour & travel divisions and the company received national industry recognition. Outside of the bus company, she became a very successful real estate developer, buying and selling homes and developing farm land in Howard and Carroll Counties. May K. retired along with her husband in 1989, turning the business over to her two sons and moving to Lake Whales, FL. She enjoyed 20 years in Lake Whales, playing golf, meeting new friends and continuing her real estate interests. Mary K. was an officer with the Howard County Fair for 13 years, serving as Secretary and Treasurer during that time. She was also an active member and generous contributor to the Glenelg United Methodist Church.
